Asaresultofthesetback,thebiotechsaysitwillnotbefilingacompleteresponsetotheFDAthisquarter.Insteaditplanstofollowupwithnewtalkswithregulatorstoclarifywhatneedstobedone,andnosubstitutetimelinewasoffered.
AcelRxstartedtodaywithamarketcapofabout$382million.ItsCEO,RichardKing,announcedhewouldstepdownlastNovemberintheaftermathofthefirstsetback.Asoftoday,though,hesstillCEO.
Zalvisoisbeingbilledasaneasierandsafermethodforallowinghospitalpatientstoself-doseusingasublingualmicrotabletoftheopioidsufentanil,replacingIVsystemsnowinuse.ThesystemwouldbemarketedasanimprovementoverIVmethodsnowusedinhospitals
GermanysGrunenthalpaid$30millionupfrontandpromisedupto$220millionmorelastfallasitlicensedEuropeanandAustralianrightstothepaintherapy.
