打造最强研发渠道！Shire2015年迎来忙碌年！

2015年2月14日讯/生物谷BIOON/--在经过2014年的调整之后，Shire公司正雄心勃勃的开始打造自己的最强研发渠道，以实现到2020年公司收入总额突破100亿美元的目标。在过去一年中，Shire公司通过兼并收购和国际研发合作的方式扩大了自己的研发产品。目前公司共有21种药物处于临床研究。Shire公司CEOFlemmingOrnskov表示2015年对于公司来说将是十分关键的一年。公司将于今年向FDA提交治疗干眼病的药物lifitegrast的上市申请。此外，Shire公司开发的治疗胆汁瘀积型肝病药物SHP625也即将进入临床二期研究阶段。
另一方面，在今年年初，Shire公司以52亿美元的价格收购了著名的韩兼并药物研发商NPS医药公司。这一协议极大充实了Shire公司的罕见病研发部门实力。这也是公司CEOFlemmingOrnskov执掌Shire公司之后达成的第七起兼并收购案。而Ornskov显然没打算就此止步。此前有传言表明Shire公司有意收购SalixPharmaceuticals。

ShireisalsoexpectingtokickoffclinicaldevelopmentofSHP626thisyear,movingforwardwithatreatmentforhigh-valuetargetofnon-alcoholicsteatohepatitis(NASH).AndSHP607,aprotein-replacementtherapyfortherareretinopathyofprematuritycurrentlyinPhaseII,isguaranteedaspeedyregulatoryreviewthankstotheFDAsfast-trackdesignation.
Shire,whichisawaitingthecloseofits$5.2billiondealforNPSPharma($NPSP),isntrulingoutfurtheracquisitions,thoughOrnskovdemurredonquestionsaboutthecompanysreportedinterestinSalixPharmaceuticals($SLXP).TheNPSbuyoutisShires7thunderOrnskovswatch,andthecompanywrappedup2014withroughly$3billioninthebank,givingitboththepedigreeandpettycashtopullanothertrigger.
ShireisquicklymovingonafterAbbVies($ABBV)plottobuythecompanyfor$55billionfellapartlastyear,givingtheIrishdrugmakeranewleaseonfreedomanda$1.6billionbreakupfeeforitstrouble.OrnskovsstatedgoalistomodelhiscompanyafterthebiggestofBigBiotech,repeatedlyname-checkingGileadSciences($GILD),BiogenIdec($BIIB)andCelgene($CELG)ascompaniesthathaveidentifiedtheircorestrengthsandbuiltsmallempiresaroundthem.
ForShire,thatcentralexpertiseisinrarediseases,andOrnskovisproceedingwithayears-longefforttoparedownthecompanysglobalreachandbetterfocusonwhatitdoesbest.
